Ingredients
  

For the Muffins:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup pitted cherries fresh or frozen, halved
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
  • ½ cup buttermilk or plain yogurt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips milk, dark, or a mix
Optional Add-ins:
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract for extra flavor
  • ½ cup chopped nuts walnuts or almonds
  • Coarse sugar for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Whisk butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently.
  5. Fold in cherries and chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop batter into muffin tin and bake for 18–22 minutes.
  7. Cool slightly before serving warm.
