Ingredients
  

For the Hamburger Steaks:
  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter for frying
For the Onion Gravy:
  • 2 large onions thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
Optional Garnishes:
  • Fresh parsley chopped

Method
 

  1. Mix ground beef with onion, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, and seasonings. Shape into patties.
  2. Sear patties in skillet until browned, set aside.
  3. Cook onions in butter until golden, stir in flour.
  4. Add beef broth and Worcestershire, simmer to thicken.
  5. Return patties to skillet, simmer in gravy, and serve hot.
