Ingredients

For the Smoothie:
  • 2 ripe bananas sliced
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1 ½ cups milk dairy or plant-based
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup optional
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup plain or vanilla yogurt optional for extra creaminess
Optional Add-Ins:
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoons rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder for chocolate flavor
  • Protein powder for extra nutrition
  • Crushed peanuts for garnish

Method

  1. Prepare the Bananas: Peel and slice the bananas into chunks before blending. Frozen banana slices work especially well here because they make the smoothie thick and chilled without needing too much ice.
  2. Add Ingredients to the Blender: Place bananas, peanut butter, milk, ice cubes, honey, vanilla extract, and yogurt into the blender. Pouring the milk in first helps everything blend more smoothly and evenly.
  3. Blend Until Creamy: Start on low speed, then gradually increase until the mixture turns silky and lump-free. Blend for about 30 to 45 seconds, depending on your blender power.
  4. Check the Texture: Pause and look at the consistency before serving. If it feels too thick, add a splash more milk. If it seems too thin, blend in a few extra banana slices or ice cubes.
  5. Taste and Adjust Sweetness: Take a quick taste test before pouring. Some bananas are sweeter than others, so you may not need much added sweetener at all.
  6. Pour and Serve Immediately: Pour into chilled glasses and serve fresh while cold. Top with crushed peanuts, banana slices, or a drizzle of peanut butter for extra flavor and texture.
