Ingredients
  

For the Topping:
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • 7 –8 pineapple slices canned or fresh
  • Maraschino cherries
For the Cake Batter:
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Melt butter and sprinkle brown sugar in pan.
  2. Arrange pineapple slices and cherries on top.
  3. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla.
  4. Pour batter over fruit and spread evenly.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 40–45 minutes. Cool slightly, then invert onto a serving plate.
