Ingredients

For the Smoothie:
  • 1 cup strawberries fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup fresh spinach leaves
  • 1 banana
  • ½ cup yogurt
  • ¾ cup milk any kind
  • 1 –2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup ice cubes
Optional Add-ins:
  • Chia seeds for extra texture
  • Flax seeds for added nutrients
  • Protein powder for a filling option
  • Almond butter for a nutty flavor

Method

  1. Wash and Prep Ingredients: Start by rinsing the spinach leaves well under cold water and draining them properly. Wash the strawberries and remove the tops, then slice them into smaller pieces. Peel the banana and cut it into chunks so it blends easily.
  2. Add Spinach First: Place the spinach leaves into the blender first along with the milk. Blending the greens with liquid first helps create a smoother base and prevents any leafy bits from staying behind.
  3. Add Fruits and Yogurt: Add the strawberries and banana into the blender. Spoon in the yogurt to bring a creamy texture, then pour in honey or maple syrup along with vanilla extract for a soft sweetness.
  4. Add Ice Cubes: Drop in the ice cubes to chill the smoothie and give it a thicker consistency. This step helps create a refreshing and slightly creamy texture.
  5. Blend Until Smooth: Blend everything on high speed until the mixture becomes smooth and even. Pause if needed to scrape down the sides so all ingredients mix properly and no chunks remain.
  6. Taste and Adjust: Taste the smoothie after blending. Add more sweetener if you want it sweeter or a splash of milk if it feels too thick. Blend briefly again to combine.
  7. Serve Fresh: Pour the smoothie into glasses right away. The texture stays smooth and the flavor feels freshest when served immediately after blending.
