Ingredients

For the Smoothie:
  • 1 ripe avocado peeled and pitted
  • 2 ripe bananas sliced
  • 1 ½ cups milk dairy or plant-based
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup optional
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup plain or vanilla yogurt optional for extra creaminess
Optional Add-Ins:
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • A handful of spinach leaves
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Method

  1. Prepare the Fruit: Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into the blender. Slice the bananas into chunks so they blend more easily. If using frozen banana slices, no thawing is needed.
  2. Add Everything to the Blender: Place avocado, banana, milk, ice cubes, honey, vanilla extract, and yogurt into the blender jar. Adding the liquid first helps the blades spin smoothly and creates an even blend.
  3. Blend Until Silky Smooth: Start blending on low speed, then raise it gradually until the mixture becomes creamy and lump-free. This usually takes less than a minute, and the texture should look thick and glossy.
  4. Adjust the Thickness: Pause and check the consistency. If it feels too thick, pour in a little extra milk and blend again. If it seems too thin, add more banana or a few ice cubes.
  5. Taste and Balance Flavor: Take a quick sip before serving. Depending on how sweet your bananas are, you may want a touch more honey for extra sweetness.
  6. Pour and Serve Fresh: Pour the smoothie into chilled glasses right away. Garnish with banana slices, mint leaves, or a sprinkle of cinnamon for a fresh finishing touch.
