Ingredients
  

For the Smoothie:
  • 1 ripe banana
  • Juice of 1 fresh lemon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 cup milk of choice
  • ½ cup plain or vanilla yogurt
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • ½ cup ice cubes
Optional Add-Ins:
  • Few frozen mango chunks
  • Chia seeds
  • Splash of vanilla extract
  • Extra lemon zest for garnish

Method
 

  1. Prepare the Lemon: Wash the lemon well, then zest it lightly before cutting and juicing it. Fresh lemon juice makes the flavor much brighter than bottled juice, so it is worth using fresh if possible.
  2. Slice the Banana: Peel the banana and cut it into chunks for easier blending. If you use frozen banana slices, the smoothie becomes thicker and colder.
  3. Add Ingredients to Blender: Place banana, lemon juice, lemon zest, milk, yogurt, honey, and ice cubes into the blender jar. Add any optional extras now so everything blends together evenly.
  4. Blend Until Smooth: Start blending slowly, then increase speed until the mixture becomes creamy and fully smooth. This usually takes about 30 to 45 seconds in most blenders.
  5. Taste and Balance Flavor: Pause and taste before serving. If you want more sweetness, add a little more honey. If you enjoy stronger citrus flavor, squeeze in a touch more lemon juice.
  6. Serve Immediately: Pour into chilled glasses and enjoy right away while cold and frothy. The fresh lemon flavor tastes best just after blending.
