Ingredients
  

For the Stir Fry Base:
  • 1 block firm tofu pressed and cubed
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil divided
  • 2 cups mushrooms button or cremini, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1- inch piece fresh ginger grated
For the Sauce:
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp chili flakes optional
  • ½ cup vegetable broth
Optional Garnishes:
  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions
  • Fresh cilantro

Method
 

  1. Coat tofu in cornstarch, fry until golden, then set aside.
  2. Sauté mushrooms, bell pepper, broccoli, garlic, and ginger until tender-crisp.
  3. Whisk together soy sauce, vinegar, hoisin, sesame oil, chili flakes, and broth.
  4. Return tofu to skillet, pour in sauce, and stir until thickened.
  5. Serve hot with rice or noodles, topped with sesame seeds or green onions.
